Hot Dish

L'Orient, Il Ciello, Three60 Market

Author: Ivan Seligman

L’Orient offers delicious, beautifully prepared Asian delights with a French accent in a romantic Naples setting. This is dining at its best with attentive service and reasonably priced dishes in Olio’s former site. Must-have appetizers include braised short rib flatbread, braised pork belly and popcorn shrimp or curry puffs. Have a toast with a zodiac-designed mixed drink. Recommended entrées include General Tso’s chicken, Malaysian curry chicken, five-spice Muscovy duck and braised-short-rib massaman curry. This is a feast for the senses.1500 Fifth Ave. S., Naples, 530-5122, naplesbayresort.com/dining/lorient

Il Ciello chef Marco Corricelli and celebrity chef Loretta Paganini bring a new fine dining venue to Sanibel at the former site of Dolce Vita. The restaurant offers handmade pastas and Italian meat and seafood favorites. The elegant setting, proper dress code and pricing have attracted a well-heeled patronage in just a couple months. Master sommelier Ron Edwards’ Italian wine selection covers most budgets from $35 to $355; he also offers wine courses. Savor veal scalloppine with prosciutto, herbed lamb chops and oxtail meatballs. Leave room for signature pistacchio crème brûlée or chili pepper chocolate mousse. 1244 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, 472-5555, ilcielosanibel.com

Experience wonderful European bistro-like charm in a cozy old Florida home setting at Naples’ Three60 Market. Patrons come by boat, bicycle and car for some of the best sandwiches, salads, soups, desserts, wines and beers around.  Former Ritz-Carlton chef Michael Johnson’s top quality offerings change daily. My favorites include the porcini, bacon and mushroom Alfredo-topped pasta, luscious tomato and cheese pie with a delectable salad, and the must-have Bourbon-sauced bread pudding, savored with a glass of wine or tea. Pet friendly, Three60 Market is a great, casual meeting spot, open 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed on Wednesdays. 2891 Bayview Drive, Naples, 732-7331
