Room with a view: Interior designer Pam Novakovich installed a window seat at the end of the living room to maximize the area with the best views. “It’s the owners’ favorite place to lounge and read,” she says. To give the space a decidedly European look, Novakovich employed embroidered silk window treatments and a faux finish on the walls.
 

Table for two: The kitchen’s redesign was drastic—hardwood floors replaced tile, glazed cabinets were installed, and an iron chandelier became just the thing to dress up the small space. A marble-top island serves as the perfect breakfast spot for two with views of the ocean on both sides.

Be our guest: Novakovich’s challenge in designing the guest bedroom was to marry a tropical element with the look of the rest of the home. Her solution is in the decorative details—pillows adorned with palm trees and upholstery with shells for buttons.
 

Study habits: A heavily carved desk is the focal point of this classic study, and a trimmed tray ceiling mirrors the finish of the furniture. Molding was introduced to bring the ceiling down for a cozier feel.
