MUSEUMS & GALLERIES

Alliance for the Arts. Florida’s great talents showcase works in sculpture, painting and photography for the 25th annual All Florida Juried Exhibit, running June 10 to Aug. 12. Reception, June 10 at 5 p.m. 939-2787.

Art of the Olympians. Luge Olympian and artist Cameron Myler’s photography collection, Shutter Speed, is on display through June 15. 332-5055.

First Fridays Art Walk. Enjoy a self-guided tour of the art galleries and businesses of Fort Myers’ River District from 6–10 p.m. on June 4. www.fortmyersartwalk.com.

Marianne Friedland Gallery. Summer Selections, an exhibition of paintings and prints by major American and European artists, is available for viewing by appointment June 6 through Oct. 31. 262-3484.

Patty & Jay Baker Naples Museum of Art. On display this month: Nevelson: Dawn’s Forest; Tuscany: Wandering the Back Roads; Modern Mexican Masters; Leaders in American Modernism; The Mouse House, featuring works from the Olga Hirshhorn collection; selections from the NMA permanent collection; and Florida Contemporary 2011. 597-1900.

Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center. The inaugural Digital Lee features Lee County School District’s Adult and Career Education’s exhibit of digital, web and gaming design, beginning June 3. 333-1933.

Southwest Florida Museum of History. Mambo Kings, a multi-platform exhibit about the man who invented the dance steps for mambo, is on display June 4 to Oct. 15. 321-7430.

The Von Liebig Art Center. Showing throughout the summer months, Camera USA: National Photography Award will be on display in the Watson Gallery. Also, Visual Storytelling is on display at Physicians Regional Medical Center through July 25. 262-6517. 

 

LIVE MUSIC

Fort Myers Music Walk. Listen to a wide range of musical styles from jazz to rock performing throughout the River District beginning at 7 p.m. on June 18. www.fortmyersmusicwalk.com.

Jazzin’ It Up. Ira Sullivan performs with some of the finest jazz musicians in Florida at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, June 9 at 6 p.m. 333-1933.

SummerJazz on the Gulf. Enjoy jazz, a Florida sunset and drinks as the annual concert series kicks off on the Watkins Lawn of the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. Pocket Change plays June 25 at 7 p.m. 261-2222.

Ben Gleib. Tapped by Esquire to be comedy’s “next big thing,” he performs at the Off the Hook Comedy Club on Marco Island, June 16–19. 389-6900.

Deadly Prowl. The Murder Mystery Dinner Train in Fort Myers presents the tale of the cat burglar Le Chat and the famed red diamond all month. 275-8487.

Dov Davidoff. Enjoy a laugh at the Off the Hook Comedy Club on Marco Island with one of Variety’s “Top 10 Comics to Watch” performing June 9–12. 389-6900.

An Evening with Buddy Valastro. In this live interactive event at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall on June 4 at 7:30 p.m., the baker and star of TLC’s Cake Boss will share stories about his TV series, demonstrate techniques and answer audience questions. 481-4849.

A Night with Capt. Sig. The Bering Sea’s toughest crew swaps stories about some of the roughest situations they’ve faced on the high seas at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall on June 22 at 7:30 p.m. 481-4849.

Pinkalicious. Performing a musical for the whole family at Sugden Community Theatre, the Naples Players tell the story of a little girl who loves pink so much that she eventually turns pink herself, through June 26. 263-7990.

Smoke on the Mountain. The Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre presents the story of the Rev. Oglethorpe as he attempts to bring his congregation into modern times by enlisting the help of the Sanders Family Singers, through July 2. 278-4422.

 

FOR THE KIDS

Conservancy of Southwest Florida. Kids from kindergarten through eighth grade can enjoy two camps, Wildlife Exploration and Outdoor Adventures, at the Conservancy beginning June 13. 262-0304, ext. 566.

Opera Naples Youth Program Finale. The culmination of a week’s worth of work in the finale performance of the Opera Naples summer youth program is at the Foulds Theatre, June 25 at 7 p.m. 514-7464.

South Breeze Day Camp. This camp keeps kids ages four to 14 entertained for 40 days with sports, creative and performing arts, nature and science activities, June 13 to Aug. 5. 530-2999.

 

FESTIVALS, FAIRS & MORE

International Food Festival. Enjoy food from around the globe at Centennial Park in downtown Fort Myers, June 11. 895-6293.

Organ Festival. The best organists in Southwest Florida perform a wide range of music at the Philharmonic Center for the Arts, June 5 at 3 p.m. 597-1900.

World Oceans Day. Rookery Bay, the Naples Zoo and other local organizations celebrate the wonders of the ocean June 8. 417-6310.

 

SPORTS & OUTDOORS

3v3 Super Challenge. The nationwide 3v3 Kick It tournament comes to North Collier Regional Park on June 25–26; players of all ages compete for a spot in the Challenge Nationals tournament. www.athletesinparadise.com.

Caloosa Catch & Release. The annual tournament returns to Captiva where it all began. Trophies, cash and good times are up for grabs, June 9–12. 671-9347.

Dogs in the Garden. The Naples Botanical Garden opens its doors every Sunday from 9–11 a.m. for canines and their human companions to take a walk. 643-7275.

Florida Cup. This month, softball players ages 12 to 18 vie for bragging rights and a trophy at North Collier Regional Park, June 17–19. 580-9490.

Rookery Bay. Two daily, two-hour guided kayak tours of Rookery Bay, Hall Bay and mangrove tunnels take place on Wednesdays. 417-6310, ext. 401.
