GRAND OPENING 

The Naples beachfront condo interior designer Roz Travis stepped into for the first time was a far cry from its current design. Set with the task of transforming the 1,600-square-foot space into something that appeared much larger, she and her team set about opening up the area, removing a wall that enclosed the kitchen and altering the configuration of the living room to create one main living area.

The "sophisticated beachy" look of the decor, Travis says, stemmed from the coral-and-shell-printed pillows, whose orange, gray and cream color palette was, coincidentally, also reflected in the sunset the night of her first visit to the unit. She selected natural wickers to maintain the condo’s overall neutral color scheme, and planking on the ceiling anchored by wide beams and specialized lighting. "It creates a wonderful feeling of tranquility at night," Travis says.

Sink in: The interior’s color palette translates to the cozy outdoor seating area as well, which extends the length of the condo’s waterfront exposure. "We took the inside out with the seating arrangement," Travis explains. "We kept it alive and vibrant, yet serene."

Sand and sea: Originally walled in with a domed ceiling, the kitchen is perhaps the unit’s biggest transformation post-renovation. Interesting textures abound, including a linen tile backsplash with brushed nickel borders and light-washed wood cabinets.

Lighten up: The new master bedroom turned out "twice as large as the original," Travis says, thanks to a reconfiguration of the wall separating the bedroom from the living room. A neutral color palette maintains flow into the large, attached master bathroom.
