So how do you find one?
Once again, we’ve partnered with Castle Connolly Medical in New York to develop a list of top physicians in Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties. (To find out more about the qualifying criteria, please see “The Process” on p. 56.)

Meet the Doctor
“Right away he eased my mind.”
Nine years ago, inez galon’s doctor made an appointment for her to see Dr. Kendall Wise.
“Right away he eased my mind,” Galon says of the urologist. “He told me what I had and what we would be doing for the rest of my life.”
Wise and Galon created a partnership for her care that could last decades, provided Galon doesn’t leave Naples, because Wise isn’t going anywhere.
Wise is proud to be a Neapolitan. His high school diploma from Naples High gets the same prominence on his office wall as his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi, his medical degree from Vanderbilt and his residency certificate from Duke. After leaving Duke in 1988, he set up shop back in his hometown.
Wise sees about 100 patients a week and each of them gets the same level of care, because he knows what might seem routine to him is a big deal to the patient.
“People who come for a doctor’s visit see a doctor every time; that’s a little different than some of the other offices,” he says. Wise guarantees an open line of communication with his patients. His team will always find an answer for your questions, says Galon.
While his bedside manner might recall a bygone era, Wise’s methods include the most cutting-edge surgery technology, such as the da Vinci robot, in his practice. Wise assists as another surgeon works the robot to do surgeries that used to require large incisions. “(The robotic surgeon’s) movements are electronically transmitted to a robot, and the robotic arms actually go through very small incisions inside the patient,” Wise says.
And if compassionate care isn’t enough, Galon says a fringe benefit is an improvement in her golf game. “I always play better after I see him,” she says.
Although Wise doesn’t guarantee this outcome for everyone, he says he always tries to be on the side of his patients. Galon couldn’t agree more.
“He’s just been perfect,” she says. “I never dread it like you might because he is always honest and I like his sense of humor.” —Kristie Aronow
