Garrett Richter

gr.jpgGarrett Richter represents District 76 in the Florida House of Representatives. He was elected to this role in November, 2006. He serves on the Education K-12 Committee, the Environmental Protection Committee and is Vice Chairman of the Financial Institutions Committee. His is also a member of the Jobs and Entrepreneurship Council.

Prior to his public service, Representative Richter was a founder and former President and CEO of First National Bank of Florida. First National Bank was acquired in 2005.

Garrett is a founding trustee of the Quest for Success program that focuses on improving the life of a child through education. Additionally, he is a past board member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Collier County Education Foundation, and the Economic Development Council. He is an alumni and past Board of Regents member for Leadership Florida and past chairman of Leadership Collier. He is also an ordained elder in his church.

Garrett served with the 75th Ranger Company in Vietnam in 1971 where he was awarded a Bronze Star. He also served in the Air Force Reserves.

Garrett is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the Graduate School of Banking at Madison, Wisconsin. He currently lectures at LSU Graduate School of Banking and the Florida School of Banking at the University of Florida.

When asked what his most proud accomplishments are, he immediately answers that it is his family. Garrett and Diana have been married for over 33 years. They have three grown children who make them extremely proud. Their daughter Melissa lives in Atlanta and works for an advertising agency as a Brand Planner. Their daughter Elizabeth lives in Naples and provides Revenue Management to the Marco Beach Ocean Resort and will be a teacher in the fall. And their son Rob is pursuing an MBA in International Finance and Marketing at Thunderbird University in Arizona.

Representative Richter recently announced his candidacy for the Florida Senate.
