Robert Cacioppo

rc.jpgRobert Cacioppo is Founder of Florida Rep. Robert was honored at the Angel of the Arts Awards as the "Arts Organization Leader of the Year" in 2005.  Under Robert's leadership, Florida Rep was named "Best Performing Arts Group in Southwest Florida" in 2001, 2004, and 2006.  He was also honored as one of the "Men and Women of the Year" by Gulfshore Life Magazine. Robert is a proud member of SSDC (Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers).

Robert was born and raised in New York City. He began his professional career in 1978 with /The Passion of Alice /at New York City's famous Grennwich Mews Theatre. He directed extensively in New York City before coming to Florida twenty years ago. Since that time, Mr Cacioppo has become a leader in Southwest Florida's theatre movement. He became Artistic Director of the Pirate Playhouse in 1990 turning that company, at the time, into the area's only resident Actor's Equity Association company and directing over sixty productions.

Selected Florida Rep credits include Greetings!, Tuesdays with Morrie, To Kill a Mockingbird, My Three Angels, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Golf with Alan Shepard, Biloxi Blues, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Proof, A Soldier's Tale, Company, Over The Tavern, Over The River and Through The Woods, You Can't Take It With You, I Love You, You're  Perfect,Now  Change,  The  Bad Seed,  The Last Night  of  Ballyhoo, Breaking  Legs,  Inherit The Wind,  and the inaugural production, Noises Off. Selected New York credits include: Hamlet at the Judity Anderson Theatre on Theatre Row, Our Town and Hair at Queens Theatre in the Park and One Flew Over The Cukoo's Nest at Town Hall.

Robert's favorite direction is home, where he happily lives in Fort Myers with his wife, actress/producer Carrie Lund, two children, Matthew Peter and Julia Rose, and a Golden Retriever named Annie.
