Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Give a man muscles made out of fishing line and he can lift a whale with his bare hands. At least that's the promise of scientists at the University of Texas at Dallas who've discovered that fishing line and ordinary sewing thread can be cheaply converted into powerful artificial muscles. They say the discovery could be used to build superhuman exoskeletons, robots and even adjustable clothing ("Need a car jack? Here, take my jacket.) The trick is twisting it up like a phone cord. (Google it.) Once contracted it can be adjusted via electrical pulse to lift weight.
