Style File: Mix Old with the New
Think of mixing of clean perfect cotton or lace white dress with this vintage 1960s Native American Concho belt.
One of my favorite things when dressing women is the use of mixing old and new. It seems obvious, but you don’t see it as often as you should. There is a lot of new and new, which can appear stale, unimaginative or slightly cold. There’s no character in new.
I love the perfect imperfect. This often can easily be found by adding a vintage accessory. I reached out to my friend in Los Angeles who scours the country for vintage pieces and she told me about some of her recent finds pictured here:
Adding two Victorian era silver cuff bracelets, light weight and gorgeous, with virtually anything especially with clean lines such as something as simple as a black turtleneck would look fabulous.
She also has been doing her take on “the statement ring” but with a lot more interest and character. She found this vintage ring that is always a conversation starter and all you need is the one. Perfect and easy thrown on with a chambray shirt. So mix it up. Somethings get better with age.
