How to Stick to Your Resolutions

Tips from the pros to make the New Year happy and healthy

BY December 27, 2016

Keeping your New Year’s resolutions is basically an uphill battle. Less than 10 percent of Americans actually stick with them throughout the year.

The key is how you formulate your resolutions and then keep yourself accountable throughout the year. Three pointers from Forbes:

Be specific: Don’t just say, “I want to run a 5K.” Give yourself a day-to-day plan that will lead up to that goal. Setting specific, measurable goals will allow you to stay motivated and envision your goals.

Tell others: It’s one thing to hold yourself accountable. It’s another to have your spouse, best friend and co-workers hold you accountable.

Expect setbacks: New habits take a while to settle in. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see immediate results or slip up every now and again. Keep focused on your larger goal.
