Marcus Jansen opened his 7,500-square-foot art studio to the public for a Grand Opening with almost 300 guests—some from as far away as New York City and Munich.

The newly renovated building at 2633 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. has on Saturday become the center of the contemporary arts in downtown Fort Myers. “I am very happy we have the space on MLK; I always wondered why an area like McGregor with an industrialist’s name like Ford is booming and a name that stood for peace such as Dr King is not,” said Jansen.

The night featured music professor William Dawson on piano and guests Lawrence Voytek, Robert Rauschenberg’s art longtime art fabricator, former urban developer Don and Nina Paight, Gisela Carbonelll, curator of special collections at the Baker Museum, Dieter Rampl Chairman at Hypo Kunsthalle Munich, Munich photographer Max Ott, who spent the week documenting Jansen for a new book being published by the leading German art book publisher Hirmer Verlag Munich next year. Noted art historian Dr. Elmar Zorn gave a speech about Jansen and his work.
