Everglades Seafood Festival Returns This Weekend

Not deterred by Irma, the three-day fest kicks off Feb. 9.

BY February 6, 2018

The festival must go on. Hurricane Irma battered Everglades City, but the annual Everglades Seafood Festival will still happen this weekend. Festivities will run from Feb. 9-11 in front of City Hall. Expect live music, rides and games, and, of course, plenty of fresh seafood.

The festival has been a mainstay in Everglades City since 1970 and has built to the point where nearly 50,000 visitors swing by during the weekend. The nonprofit Betterment Association of the Everglades Area organizes the festival to serve as a fundraiser for local causes—which is much-needed this year in the wake of Irma. Booths will line downtown, selling everything from strawberry cakes to benefit the devastated Chokoloskee Church of God to T-shirts that will help out the Everglades City School Athletic Department.

For more details, including a line-up of music, go to evergladesseafoodfestival.org.
