The 2018 “Wishmaker’s Ball,” presented by Fidelity Private Wealth Management, was an unforgettable evening of dinner, live entertainment, dancing, and auctions featuring an array of unique items and one-of-a-kind experiences.
The night’s theme was an ‘Ocean of Wishes’ and the event raised more than $200,000, enough to grant 34 life-changing wishes for local children who have critical illnesses.
Rick and Brenda Brown were presented the “Magic Wand Award” for significant impact for Make-A-Wish and in the community.
Marley Harrelson, whose wish was to visit Atlantis in the Bahamas, shared an emotional story about his illness and what the Make-A-Wish experience meant to his family.
Make-A-Wish Southern Florida has granted more than 11,000 life-changing wishes since 1983 for children who have critical illnesses. It aims to grant a wish for every medically-eligible child in its territory and understands that these experiences aren’t just nice, they’re necessary to the health and well-being of families at critical times in their lives.
Wish kids most often ‘wish to be’ (something), ‘wish to meet’ (someone), ‘wish to go’ (somewhere), or ‘wish to have’ (something) and the nonprofit organization makes this happen for the child and his/her entire family at no cost or obligation.
