An Ode to the Not-So-Little Black Dress
The Olsen twins recently celebrated their birthday, and every fashion magazine and blog was doing a tribute of some form or another. “The Olsen twins 20 best red carpet styles” and such. Being a fan of their line—The Row, their personal style and their glorious penchant for vintage couture, I gladly got sucked into the vortex of all things Olsen. Most of the clients I dress are not 20. Most are not 30. And in that I hear a lot of the same complaints. “I hate my...arms, tummy, hips....” you name it. We are forever expecting, even on the thinnest woman, to look amazingly effortlessly chic while playing up her best assets. To this end and on this week of the Olsen birth I give you two looks perfect for looking hopelessly chic at any age and size. Both black. One a tuxedo dress and the other a long sleeved, V-neck dress. Both cover any amount of sins. Both show a perfect amount of skin in an area almost all women enjoy baring. Both worn on Ashley at two different events. Both perfect. Both timeless. Both effortless. You’re welcome. You can thank the twins.
