Cape Coral Drivers Among the Best in the Country

Believe it or not, the city ranked fifth in the nation.

BY June 29, 2017

While snowbird season might have had drivers believing otherwise, Allstate just named Cape Coral one of the safest driving cities in 2017.

The “America’s Best Drivers Report” from Allstate ranked Cape Coral fifth in the nation. Kansas City, Kansas, topped the list; Boston drivers were named the worst. This year, data showed that Cape Coral drivers average about 12.2 years between collisions. (The national average is 10.)

Allstate’s Drivewise—a rewards program for safe driving that collects data from drivers’ dashboards—suggested that Cape Coral had 18 “hard-breaking events” per 1,000 miles. (The national average is 19.) See the full rankings here.

Of course, you have to take these rankings with a grain of salt. As we explored in our magazine last year, Southwest Florida drivers aren’t exactly known for being well-behaved on the road.
