Still Making Plans for Father's Day?

We have some ideas.

BY June 14, 2017

June is upon us, and along with the warm summer weather and long-awaited vacations comes Father’s Day, on Sunday, June 18. From the good ol’ days playing catch and sneaking extra cookies under Mom’s nose, to learning how to drive and watching the game together, the following events are sure to have you reminiscing on those memories and still making new ones. Here’s to the man who showed us how to make life’s ordinary events just a little more extraordinary.

Collier County

Throw in a line and spend some time with Dad at Naples Botanical Garden on June 17 and 18. It will be a weekend of bonding over some fun catch-and-release fishing in the Garden Lakes; not to mention, Dad and Granddad will receive free admission on Sunday, June 18. Just remember to bring your own fishing gear, and have a “reel-y” good time.

Barnes & Noble will be holding a special event for the very special day: When Dads Don’t Grow Up by Marjorie Blain Parker is a humorous and fun-loving story of four father-child duos who enjoy countless silly adventures together. The story-time reading of this book will seem like an excerpt from your own life story with Dad. Fun activities will follow.

Did you have a funnyman father growing up? Someone who took knock-knock jokes to the next level? If so, this event is perfect for you both to share a laugh. Comedian Chris Roach, who plays the brother of fellow comedian Kevin James on the new sitcom Kevin Can Wait, is bringing his unique humor to Off The Hook.

Remember all the wild adventures that were simply a part of spending time with Dad? Make room for at least one more at the Naples Zoo. With a paid child or adult ticket, Dad needs to bring only a half-empty or partially used bottle of cologne or aftershave, and he can enjoy free admission. Spend the day feeding the giraffes, observing the cheetahs and drifting through the zoo’s many trails to get a glimpse of the wild side. Be sure to provide the coupon for Dad’s free admission, available through the link provided above.

For those who love the soothing sounds of jazz, the hotel is excited to bring about their 32nd annual concert series. This free event features a diverse number of live performances that—you guessed it—take place right on the Gulf. You can soak up the warm setting summer sun and the romantic air of jazz, all in one gorgeous setting.

Lee County

Time to treat all fathers with fun-filled activities and a mouthwatering cookout. Shell Factory is hosting a day of free nature park admission and zip line rides for Dad, plus free mini golf for the whole family. Even Dad’s four-legged friend is welcome to join the fun.

What is better than a summer evening spent by the waterfront, enjoying craft beer and bratwursts and being charmed by the warm strains of live music? Edison Ford is bringing that evening to life, teaming up with Pinchers to throw a Father’s Day celebration to remember. Each person in attendance will receive Bavarian pretzel sticks, bratwurst and two craft beer tickets. A cash bar will also offer additional beverage selections.

Here’s another option for the Dad who has a little fisherman or fisherwoman in the family. The event is just for kids, complete with a free fishing book, Gone Fishing sign, photo download of their catch, and even a First Fish certificate to document their day by the water.  Local professionals will also be in attendance to host informational seminars.
