Sparks Modern Fires

The red cube fire pit makes a great statement piece on any patio or lanai.

Ice buckets are so 2013. Champagne and beer (yes, soft drinks, too) can be chilled inside Dedon’s Play table thanks to a built-in ice trough. But as seen in the pictures below the ice trough also doubles as a great mini fire feature, as long as you use candles rather than say smoldering logs, or for a fun floral display.

If you must play with fire, Sparks Modern Fires’ new red and stainless steel Cubes ($5,900 and $6,700, respectively) add instant gratification to your outdoor space. Inside, the company’s ultra-contemporary natural gas and propane ribbon fireplaces fit into walls and countertops. Please, no fake logs – that’s the reason former Washington, D.C. area homebuilder and company founder Tom Healy started a spark. “Those fake logs drove me crazy.” Instead, add glass, colored rocks or lava stones.
