What We're Drinking (and Eating!): Point Ybel Brewing Company & 11:Eleven Café

BY March 3, 2015

Over the past year, the Point Ybel Brewing Company has become a Fort Myers favorite for small-batch IPAs and pale ales paying homage to the area, like the Sanibel Red brewed with honey found in nearby mangroves. The taproom is guaranteed fun for an afternoon or evening, as it carries a faintly nostalgic frat-house feel with brightly hued picnic tables, a life-size Jenga game and live music many nights. Noticeably absent, however, had been eats as delectable as the libations fermenting out back, but that changed this season when 11:Eleven Café moved in next door. Its chef/owner, Christa Leigh, teamed up with the bar, and she can often be seen shuttling her brilliant spin on comfort food to Ybel’s patrons in addition to those in her own quaint space. The menu (displayed on the picnic tables) lists preparations such as “Lemon Basil,” a marriage of fresh zest, slivers of herb and two artisan cheeses, and then diners elect a vehicle through which to experience it—a baked potato, savory waffle or various breads (to create either a grilled cheese or flatbread). It’s never been easier to eat, drink and be merry all in the same spot.
