Spring in Southwest Florida is close to perfect. It’s not too hot. It starts to stay lighter later. It’s a perfect time to get outside—if you can stand waiting in traffic to get there. Here are five good reasons to get active in March. Need more reasons? Check out our online calendar.  

Naples Yoga Festival at North Collier Regional Park, March 4: A full afternoon of yoga classes, plus health and wellness vendors, food and kids activities. Cost: $25 per yogis, $5 per non-yogi

Shape Up! at Lowdermilk Park, March 10: Presented by Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida, this is a chance to spend the morning being active. Take part in everything from a 2-mile run to yoga on the beach to a paddleboard demonstration. Cost: $5 pre-register, $10 day of

Marco Island Half Marathon and 5K Run-Walk, March 18: Get in a good run and help raise money for Marco Island charities. Cost: $60 for the half marathon; $30 for the 5K

Madisen’s Match and Golisano Pro Tennis Classic, March 18-19: Some tennis greats, such as legendary doubles pair the Bryan Brothers, are coming to Southwest Florida to play. If you want to ante up, you can even get a spot in the Legends Tennis Camp and Pro-Am at Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club. Cost: $750 for the Pro-Am VIP package

Color Run at Eagle Lakes Community Park, March 31: If you’re not aware of a color run, it’s … well, colorful. Run a 5K and get doused with colored powder along the way. By the end, you look and feel like a rainbow. Cost: $10
