Fort Myers Film Festival Starts March 21

The annual fest brings dozens of indie films to several locations in Lee County.

Mark your social calendars with a big red circle over March 21-25. That’s the return of Lee County’s red-carpet event of the season: the Fort Myers Film Festival.

Every year it’s thought-provoking and emotionally stirring, yes. But it’s also fun. Catch the finest indie flicks over five days at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall at FSW, the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, Alliance for the Arts, Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, the downtown Fort Myers library and the Imaginarium. (The county joins in for tandem dinner parties, too, at Twisted Vine Bistro, Firestone and the like.) Last year’s opening films received standing ovations and warm words from the mayor, so the bar is high.

The opening night film this year is Melody Makers, a documentary about the one of the world’s most influential rock magazines.
