3 Places to Get Your Cinco On

A weekend of tacos and margaritas revolves around May 5.

BY May 4, 2018

This year, one of the biggest excuses to throw yourself into rounds of tequila and bottomless chips happens to land on a Saturday. Plan your day—or weekend—right and you can get a doubleheader with mint juleps and Derby pie on May 5 (the 2018 Run for the Roses starts at 6:34 p.m. ET).

THE MAMA OF ALL FIESTAS

Cabos Cantina Taco & Tequila Bar

Fort Myers’ River District

In downtown Fort Myers, not only May 5 is a party—the entire weekend is, too. Cabos Cantina’s “Cinco de Weekend” has drink specials throughout, such as Cincorita pitchers for $20, $5 shots and $4 drafts (plus $5 burritos), and the kickoff Friday includes Heat Latin Jazz live on Patio de Leon during the city’s monthly Art Walk.

ALL IN THE NOMBRE

Tacos & Tequila Cantina

Naples’ King’s Lake and North Naples

As its name implies, for both the original on Davis Boulevard as well as the bigger sister in the Pavilion on Vandy (and a spot in Estero at FGCU coming soon), the vibrantly hued bars and dining rooms can be counted on for a seemingly endless list of authentic, Tex-Mex and modern $2-7 tacos and a full page of tequilas and margaritas. On Saturday, free shots will be poured from 2-8 p.m., along with other giveaways and deals all day long.

FIESTA BOWL FOR FOODIES

Bar Tulia

Naples’ Fifth Avenue South

It may be coming from an unexpected source (Naples’ preeminent and generally Italian-focused gastropub), but expect chef-owner Vincenzo Betulia and his team of mixologists and chefs to deliver on their promise for a night of enticing food (a special taco menu will feature al pastor with pineapples, carnitas and grilled grouper), drinks (the craft cocktail versions of South-of-the-Border favorites) and fun (maracas and sombreros for everyone).
