Merrick Seafood Rings in 25 Years

It’s hard to imagine another business with a bigger reach in Southwest Florida eating.

BY November 2, 2016

If you’ve lived in Southwest Florida for more than a few weeks, you’ve surely eaten Merrick seafood—even though you may not have known it.

The company’s market in Cape Coral has been open for customers to snap up the day’s catches for the past 25 years, but it also sells seafood to more than 300 restaurants and country clubs throughout Southwest Florida (why you’ve very most likely have had their snapper, grouper, crab and more).

We’ve christened a new season, and we’re at the height of restaurants opening right and left, so when you consider the lasting and far-reaching impact of Merrick, it’s a potent force.

Now is a perfect time to stop by the market because until Nov. 6, the first 25 people to walk in the door will get a $25 gift card as a way for the family that owns it to celebrate the milestone and say thanks. While there, don’t forget to also check out their adjacent Fish Tale Grill. Just in 2014, it was anointed as one of the year’s best new restaurants—and, not surprisingly, considering it shares a breezeway to the freshest catches around, it has become a permanent fixture in the Cape’s dining scene.
