Good Mornings (and Afternoons) at The Coupe

Extra-large omelets and a super chicken soup are reasons to leave your roost.

Breakfasting on the Paradise Coast is often about proximity: The closest cafe you find to home becomes your go-to.

Once in a while, however, one opens up that is worthy of detour.

The Coupe broke onto the dining scene earlier this year from a Greek family who relocated from Chicago.

It definitely gets grade “A” for value, upping the customary three eggs to a four-egg omelet. And all are served with a choice of hash browns, fruit or grits and your pick of toast, biscuit or pancakes (for a slight extra charge, you can upgrade to the insanely good bananas foster flapjacks with a brûléed sauce, pecans and whipped cream). 

Finding anything on the menu over $10 in reality would be like plucking a needle out of a haystack—and that also applies to the lunch items, including a filling chicken-rice soup simmered daily.

Another reason people sometimes scramble on weekends to find a new breakfast joint is because when brunch crowds flock to tiny cafés, the lines can wind out the door. The next time you're in that situation, fly down Tamiami Trail to The Coupe. The light-filled dining room the size of a small field has plenty of tables (most with outlets and free WiFi to boot), and you'll be crowing for days about your find.
