Feel Good

Sit Less, Move More

Beyond that, it’s hard to prove exactly how much.

OK, we get that we should sit less. There’s a cottage industry of anti-sitting information being produced. But, we all have to sit for one reason or another. So, how much sitting it too much? It’s a question that the experts are still trying to figure out.

The latest news centers on how sitting around can affect your heart.

"The evidence to date is suggestive, but not conclusive, that sedentary behavior contributes to cardiovascular disease and diabetes risk," wrote a team of researchers from the American Heart Association earlier this month.

The major point from the report is that prolonged sitting can be damaging—even if you are getting the recommended 30 minutes of moderate exercise each day. For the desk-bound, this means you need to get up and move around for a few minutes every hour.

In review, we still don’t know exactly how much sitting is too much. But it’s safe to say it’s probably time you took a trip to the water cooler about now.
