Happenings and highlights of the month.

Christmas at Palm Cottage. Relive the holidays of yesteryear, thanks to the Collier County Historical Society. Naples' lovely old Palm Cottage will be open Nov. 24 through Dec. 31; call 261-8164 for more details.

Ultimate Gift Show. Holiday shopping is easy this year as boutiques, art galleries and specialty shops exhibit their wares in The Ritz-Carlton ballroom. General admission is $15 for Nov. 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. An opening fund-raiser preview party takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 28 (reservations required). For more details, call 436-4673.

Music

Southwest Florida Symphony. A salute to the Bard, Shakespeare in Song features orchestral and choral works as well as actors from Florida Rep, at 8 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Barbara B. Mann; the classical series kicks off with a performance of Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante, at 8 p.m. Nov. 7 and 8 at the Mann; and the Sanibel series begins with pianist Toby Blumenthal, at 7 p.m. Nov. 23 at BIG Arts' Schein Hall. Classic Chamber Concerts. Guitarist Steve Uscher joins the Philadelphia Piano Quartet for Fandango, an evening including works by Beethoven, Paganini and Dvorak, at 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at Edison Community College/Naples and at 8 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4 at the Sugden. Southwest Florida Symphony Classical Series. Masterworks by Mozart, Dvorak and John Adams, at 8 p.m. Nov. 7 and 8 at the Barbara B. Mann. Guest artists are violinist Glenn Dicterow and violist Karen Dreyfus. Information: 418-1500.

An Evening with Doc Severinsen and the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra. The good doctor kicks off the Phil's 15th anniversary season as conductor of the orchestra and trumpet soloist, at 8 p.m. Nov. 8 (a gala reception takes place starting at 7 p.m.). Information: 597-1900.

Naples Philharmonic Orchestra. Tchaikovsky's masterpiece-the Sixth Symphony-is the centerpiece of concerts that also feature violinist Stefan Jackiw on Bruch's Concerto for Violin No. 1 in G Minor, Nov. 13-15 at the Phil. Information: 597-1900.

Esther Budiardjo. Pianist Budiardjo returns to the Schein Hall stage on Sanibel, Nov. 15. Information: 395-0900.

Mozart Festival Orchestra: Don Giovanni. The opera company makes its debut at the Phil with Mozart's masterpiece about infamous seducer Don Juan, at 8 p.m. Nov. 21. Information: 597-1900.

Symphony on Sanibel. The Southwest Florida Symphony offers Cool Discoveries, featuring off-the-beaten path classical works which include pieces from Ravel, Milhaud and Mozart. At 7 p.m. Nov. 23 at Schein Hall. Information: 418-1500.

Nancy Wilson and Ramsey Lewis. Composer/pianist Lewis and singer Wilson team for an evening of jazzy sounds, at 8 p.m. Nov. 24 at the Phil. Information: 597-1900.

Theater

Misery. An adaptation of the Stephen King novel, this play about an obsessed fan ends its run at the Cultural Park Theatre in Cape Coral on Nov. 2. Information: 772-5862.

The Tale of the Allergist's Wife. Charles Busch's hit about a Jewish New York matron trying to find meaning in her life, who reconnects with an old friend. Through Nov. 8 at the Sugden Community Theatre. Information: 263-7990.

Sly Fox. Larry Gelbart puts a modern spin on Ben Jonson's Volpone with this comedy centering on the greedy would-be heirs to a fortune. Through Nov. 9 at Florida Rep. Information: 332-4488.

The Laramie Project. Moises Kaufman's look at the aftermath of the murder of Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyo., continues through Nov. 15 in the Sugden's Tobye Studio. Information: 263-7990.
