For a truly authentic taste of Old Florida, head out to Labelle's annual Swamp Cabbage Festival in Hendry County. Celebrating the sweet, tender heart of the sabal or cabbage palm-a delicacy to foodies-the 39-year-old folksy fest attracts some 25,000 visitors to Barron Park on the Caloosahatchee River to sample swamp-cabbage fritters and salad along with such other Florida favorites as gator tail and Indian fry bread. Although events begin earlier in the month, the Saturday-morning parade and two days of live music and good eats always fall on the last full weekend in February. Mark your calendar: Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 28-29. For more info, call the Greater LaBelle Chamber of Commerce at (941) 675-0125.
