Cypress Square, on the corner of McGregor Boulevard and Cypress Lake Drive, (239) 278-0136. An open-air center with walkways that wind past specialty boutiques, restaurants and retail outlets.
Daniels Crossing, 6900 Daniels Parkway, includes Publix, a large craft-supply store, retail stores, service-related companies, restaurants and two banks.
Design Center, 13241 McGregor Blvd. Features boutiques, an art gallery, a jewelry store, fitness center, Spada Day Spa and restaurants including The Melting Pot.
Edison Mall, corner of U.S. 41 and Colonial Boulevard, (239) 939-5464. Features more than one million square feet of retail space, with several major department store anchors and more than 150 stores featuring many of the nation's top retailers, including The Disney Store, Victoria's Secret, The Body Shop, Ann Taylor Loft and The Gap. Also includes many local companies and service-related stores, as well as restaurants and a large food court.
Fleamasters Flea Market, 4135 Martin Luther King Drive, (239) 334-7001. Offers more than 800 booths filled with just about every product, from clothing and antiques to appliances and produce. The market is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Free parking and admission. Wheelchair rentals available.
Ortiz Avenue Flea Market, 1501 Ortiz Ave., (239) 694-5019. An assortment of plants, produce, clothing and other goods. Open Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Reflections Lakes Commons, 13550 Reflections Parkway. A variety of shops including Brodeur Carvell Fine Menswear, Children's Couture and PlusPerfect.
Royal Palm Square, corner of Colonial Boulevard and Summerlin Square, (239) 482-1280. An outdoor mall with a pond surrounded by lush vegetation. Anchored by the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre and featuring specialty stores, service companies, restaurants and offices.
Tanger Outlet Center, located minutes from Fort Myers, Sanibel and Captiva beaches on Summerlin Road, (888) 471-3939. Uncover a world of savings directly from the manufacturer to you. Stroll canopied boardwalks in a plush, tropical setting, and discover more than 55 outlets, including Casual Corner, Ellen Tracy, Easy Spirit, Liz Claiborne, Mikasa, The Gap, Jones New York, Samsonite, Osh Kosh B'Gosh, Fossil and Swim Mart. Children's playground and nature walk on premises. Open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Fort Myers Beach
Times Square, at the foot of the Matanzas Pass Sky Bridge, is the beach's historic downtown area. A $2.3 million streetscape project has created a pedestrian mall next to the pier and Lynn Hall Memorial Park, a county facility. Includes outdoor dining, an ice cream shop, and water-sports vendors, surf shops and many other beach-related items in this charming area.
Seafarer's Village Shopping Mall, 1113 Estero Blvd., at the foot of the Sky Bridge, (239) 463-1113. The beach's only indoor mall, Seafarer's boasts 16 specialty shops, offering shells, T-shirts, imported clothing, health food, hats and gifts, plus a German restaurant.
Key Estero Shopping Plaza, 1661 Estero Blvd. A two-story center with restaurants, shops, a gallery, medical offices and a post office.
Santini Plaza, toward the south end of Estero Island. This shopping center contains beach apparel stores, gift shops and an Italian deli.
North Fort Myers
Merchant's Crossing, 15201 N. Cleveland Ave. (U.S. 41), features large national retailers. There is also a 16-screen movie complex. Assistance for those in wheelchairs is available.
The Shell Factory, four miles north of Fort Myers on U.S. 41, (239) 995-2141. In addition to shells and marine items from around the world, there are exhibits, tourist items, jewelry and activities. www.shellfactory.com.
Sanibel Island
Periwinkle Way, Sanibel's main road, features numerous open-air malls, each with a unique personality. From seashells to souvenirs and clothing to crafts, there is something for every taste at the larger plazas: Village Shopping Center, Tahitian Gardens, Periwinkle Place and Islander Center. Most shops close at 6 p.m.
Bailey's Center, on the corner of Periwinkle Way and Tarpon Bay Road, (239) 472-1516. The island's first shopping center. The Bailey family opened this center in the late 1800s and still owns and operates it today. It offers a grocery, restaurant, service companies, hardware store, pharmacy, jewelry store, flower shop and movie theater.
Forever Green Shops, at 2025 and 2055 Periwinkle Way, (239) 472-5354. A covered strip center featuring two ladies' boutiques, an art gallery featuring works of local island artists, and a restaurant with eclectic cuisine and garden dining.
Jerry's of Sanibel,1700 Periwinkle Way, (239) 472-9300. A variety of stores including Jerry's Foods, a liquor store, jewelry store, art gallery, surf shop and Jerry's Restaurant.
