1. The gentle plucking of harp strings provides ethereal ambiance for brunch at The Brass Pelican at the Naples Grande Resort & Club (formerly the Registry Resort). Does it get any more civilized than that? Tuck into roast leg of lamb and prime rib-and a dessert table with more than a dozen sweets-while enjoying poolside and garden views through a floor-to-ceiling wall of windows in this Old Florida-style restaurant. Sundays 11:45 a.m.-2:30 p.m. $34 per person, including champagne. 475 Seagate Drive, Naples; (239) 597-3232. 2. A panoramic view of the Gulf of Mexico is just one of the charms of The Everglades Room at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. With the piano stylings of longtime entertainer Gordon Banks in the background, dig into prime rib or seafood alternatives such as salmon, mahi-mahi or sea bass. For dessert, make it mousse or crème brûlée. Sundays 11:45 a.m.-2 p.m. $19.95 per person. 851 Gulf Shore Blvd. N., Naples; (239) 435-4348. 3. Already acclaimed for its tearoom offerings, the Mediterranean-inspired Caffé dell'Amore has added Sunday brunch. The lemon-ricotta pancakes are more like individual soufflés-light and subtle. For a more substantial meal, try a goat cheese flan or dill crepes with salmon and crème fraîche. Dessert? How about pain au chocolate? Located near Laudermilk Park, the café offers a lovely view, including dolphin sightings. Seatings start at 9 a.m. Sunday and continue throughout the day; reservations are suggested. Items range from $2 to $11. 1400 Gulf Shore Blvd. N., Naples; (239) 261-1389. 4. For the deluxe treatment, head to Lemonia, the Tuscan-themed restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples. Start with a ceviche shooter and move on to assorted sushi, smoked swordfish or mackerel, sea bass saltimbocca with truffle sauce, marinated New York strip steak, herbed venison loin or confit of chicken with roasted butternut squash. For dessert, an entire room is devoted to raspberry ganache, triple chocolate mousse and other sweet delights. Sundays 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. $62 per person. 2600 Tiburon Drive, Naples; (239) 593-2000. 5. From its trademark lobster salad to its gourmet meat loaf, Maxwell's on the Bay's brunch spans the range from sublime to earthy. Of course, earthy at Maxwell's means a meat loaf of ground chuck blended with portobello mushrooms and Gorgonzola cheese and topped with mushroom demi-glace. Fish lovers shouldn't miss the fresh Great Lakes walleye sautéed in white wine and Atlantic salmon with orange demi. Sundays 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. From $10.95 to $17.95. 4300 Gulf Shore Blvd. N., Naples; (239) 263-1662. 6. Courtney's offers some of the usual brunch fare but with unexpected twists. You want French toast? Try it stuffed with Brie and topped with a berry sauce. Even the omelet gets the royal treatment with fontina, sautéed asparagus, artichoke hearts and portobello mushrooms. Save room for house-made desserts including bread pudding with Grand Marnier sauce. Sundays 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. A la carte items cost $6.95-$7.95. 12791 Kenwood Lane, Fort Myers; (239) 728-5400. 7. For brunch with an ethnic flavor, try French Roast Café. Besides traditional American breakfast fare like pancakes, omelets and French toast, French Roast offers a sampling of Vietnamese cuisine: pho, the signature beef noodle soup; crepes stuffed with pork and shrimp; and barbecued pork. Even corned beef gets a unique twist: It's tucked into puff pastry, served with a poached egg and topped with Hollandaise sauce. Sundays 8 a.m.-3 p.m. From $4.95 to $10.95. 12995 S. Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers; (239) 936-2233. 8. What could be more appropriate for Southwest Florida than brunch on the water? The Sanibel Harbour Princess, the luxury yacht based at Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa, cruises the waters of Sanibel Island, Fort Myers Beach and the Caloosahatchee River. Look for dolphins, manatees and other wildlife while dining on roast beef and fresh seafood. The two-hour cruise launches at 11:15 a.m. Sundays. $32 for adults; children under five sail free. Like the proverbial magic carpet, Bha! Bha! A Persian Bistro sweeps patrons to another world with a brunch menu of mazzeh (think small plates à la Spanish tapas). The three-course meal offering six tasting opportunities at a fixed price might include appetizers of ground lamb meatballs in saffron cream sauce or a cold cucumber soup with raisins and rose petals; for entrées, consider the popular lamb with dried plums or garlic eggplant chicken.
