Good news for wine and music lovers: Bayshore Coffee Company in Naples is now open at night. Owner Tracy Belford says there will be live musical entertainment on various evenings. Those who fill up on chicken or beef saté or a cheese plate can order dessert and not eat it. With Belford's "virtual dessert," customers who order this item are charged $3.95, all of which is donated to the Harry Chapin Food Bank. The café's neighbor, The Real Macaw, offers it, too. The Bayshore Coffee Company is at 3570 Bayshore Drive in Naples. It's open daily. (239) 775-5676.
Northerners who pine for Panera Bread should get a rise from the news that the café-bakery chain is headed this way. A branch is scheduled to open this summer in Coconut Point Town Center on U.S. 41 in Estero. Fresh-baked artisanal breads are among the big draws and include sourdough, ciabatta, nine grain and rye, which are excellent alongside a bowl of Panera's soup.
RedFish BluFish restaurant, the colorful, artistic eatery on Captiva Island, has decided not to expand to Fort Myers. "We are staying put on this beautiful island of Captiva to reap what we've sowed for the last two years," the restaurant's newsletter reports, stating the massive overhaul at South Seas Resort will continue to provide RedFish BluFish with its "main source of nourishment." The restaurant is at 14970 Captiva Drive. (239) 472-1956.
