Etc. This series of staged play readings from the Naples Players continues with three short plays on The Modern Sensibility, Feb. 18 in the Tobye Studio at Sugden Community Theatre. 263-7990.

Four Part Thunder. Stage 88 performs this new musical in the Bonita Springs Community Hall Feb. 8–24 at 8 p.m. 513-8600.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. This company of 23 dancers will showcase its cutting-edge choreography Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. at the Phil. 597-1900.

The Jewel Thieves. A missing necklace is the mystery in this comedy performed by the Marco Players Feb. 22 to March 12 at the Marco Players Theater in Marco Town Center Mall. 642-7270.

Laff Past Eight. A variety act by local favorites Fred and Lee Tobias, at the Norris Center Feb. 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. 213-3049.

Madama Butterfly. The Puccini opera with English subtitles performed by Opera Naples, featuring stars of the Metropolitan and New York City operas, at the Performing Arts Hall of Gulf Coast High School, Feb. 16 and 18. (800) 771-1041.

Mame. The Tony Award-winning musical performed by the Naples Players in Blackburn Hall at Sugden Community Theatre, Feb. 28 to March 31. 263-7990.

Mary Cassatt and the Impressionists. Robin Lane acts, directs and produces this one-woman play in the Phil’s Daniels Pavilion, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. 597-1900.

Miami City Ballet. The company première of Anthony Tudor’s Lilac Garden performed at the Phil Feb. 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. 597-1900.

Mid-Life The Crisis Musical. A wacky musical about age-old situations at the Off Broadway Palm Theatre all this month. 278-4422.

Mixed Emotions. A comedy about two golden-agers falling in love, performed by the Naples Players in the Blackburn Hall at Sugden Community Theatre until Feb. 3. 263-7990.

Parallel Lives, The Kathy and Mo Show. Two women struggle through the rituals of modern life in this comedy from Theatre Conspiracy, Feb. 15 to March 3 in the Foulds Theatre at Alliance for the Arts. 936-3239.

The Peking Acrobats. Straight from China, these gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists and tumblers will perform with an exotic Chinese orchestra Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. at the Phil. 597-1900.

Picasso at the Lapin Agile. If Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso were to meet at a bar, would their genius match? See this play, written by actor Steve Martin, before the movie comes out next year, at FGCU’s Theatre Lab at the Arts Complex. Feb. 15–25. 590-7268.

Remember the Ladies. Janina Birtolo stars in this play on the life of first lady Abigail Adams, at the Norris Center Feb. 9 and 10. 213-3049.

The Retreat from Moscow. Can the end of a marriage be compared to Napoleon’s retreat from Moscow? This drama, performed by the Naples Players, explores the history of a relationship. In the Tobye Studio at Sugden Community Theatre until Feb. 24. 263-7990.

Riverdance. The Irish music and dance troupe comes to the Phil Feb. 27 to March 4 at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. shows March 3 and 4. 597-1900.

Run For Your Wife. This British farce about a London cabbie with two wives is at the Schoolhouse Theater on Sanibel until Feb. 3. 472-6862.

Sea Change: Reversing the Tide. Is man really the center of the animal kingdom? This drama of poetry and science will explore the complex web of life on earth. Feb. 21 at BIG Arts on Sanibel. 395-0900.

Smucker’s Stars on Ice. World champion figure skaters and Olympic gold medalists hit the ice for this show at Germain Arena Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. 948-7825.

Spamalot. Go on the quest for the Holy Grail in this musical comedy "lovingly ripped" from the film Monty Python. At the Phil Feb. 6–11 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 10, 11 at 2 p.m. 597-1900.

Trying. David Howard stars in this touching play about Francis Biddle, attorney general under President FDR and chief judge during the Nuremberg trials, as he struggles to put his life in order. Feb. 14 at BIG Arts on Sanibel. 395-0900.

FESTIVALS & FAIRS

Art in the Park. Naples’ oldest outdoor art festival is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This month’s featured artist is Debbie Hummel-Marconi. The shows feature artwork from the Naples Art Association members, as well as food and entertainment. Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Cambier Park in downtown Naples and on Park Street by the von Liebig Art Center. 262-6517.

ArtFest. A juried fine arts festival featuring 200 national artists, interactive art, food and entertainment. In downtown Fort Myers on Edwards Drive, Feb. 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 768-3602.

Art Night. Pine Island galleries open their doors for an evening of art and entertainment, Feb. 9 from 4 to 9 p.m.

Edison Festival of Light. Marjory Stoneman Douglas Festival. In rememberance of the "Mother of the Everglades," the Museum of the Everglades will host the third annual celebration with lectures from visiting professors, an English tea, swamp walks and boat tour through the Everglades Feb 20–23, with the Swamp County Fair in McLeod Park Feb. 24. 695-0008.

Naples National Art Festival. The 28th annual festival will display work from more than 275 artists, spotlighting artist Natalie Salminen and furnituremaker Lara Moore.
