Christine Flynn
Philanthropist, retired educator Seen at: Bill Blass fashion show at Saks Fifth Avenue in Naples, which benefitted the Saint Ann School Educational Fund. Flynn was the co-chair. How did you choose your outfit? Saks had a large collection of Bill Blass. It didn’t take me long to choose this dress—it is two separate pieces. The under layer is a fitted strapless black silk dress. The top layer is fine black tulle with tiny silk ribbon flowers. It made me feel pretty and very feminine. What about your accessories? The dress needed to be center stage, so I chose black metallic Anne Klein shoes and my vintage satin and velvet tasseled clutch. What do you like about Bill Blass design? The wonderful classic style. It is the reason that women remarked during the fashion show, "Oh, I can see myself in that." Michael Vollbracht [designer for Bill Blass] hit a home run with current yet classy and classic styles. What’s your fashion philosophy? If it fits well, is stylish and occasion appropriate, wear it! Where did you acquire your sense of style? My grandmother was a creative and talented woman who also happened to be an expert seamstress. When shopping, she would turn a garment inside out to determine its quality. What do you think is the next big thing in fashion? It should be Spanx for the upper arms—just kidding. What’s the one item that every woman here needs? A sweater set. It’s comfortable in the heat as well as in air conditioning. What’s your favorite thing to wear? My Ugg sheepskin-lined leather thong sandals. They are so comfortable! |
