What to Wear: Red Carpet Events

At the mention of a red carpet event, your thoughts likely turn to those glamorous, Oscar-worthy gowns. While a gorgeous dress is considered de rigueur by many, an alternate—and super stylish option—is a sharply tailored trouser suit. To differentiate it from a daytime pant suit, fabric choice is key. A sleek, lustrous fabric in a jewel bright color, paired with a sheer or silky top underneath and some sparkling jewelry, would make for a head-turning choice. If all-over color isn’t for you, a white suit is a fresh, modern take for a summer event. A white lacy cami keeps the look monochromatic, or add some sizzle with a bright pop of color. In the tradition of saving the best until last, the black Le Smoking tuxedo is as sublime now as when Yves Saint Laurent debuted it half a century ago. Nothing else is needed other than some killer heels and a radiant smile.
