After a chance visit to a Belorussian orphanage, American painter Nick Kosciuk’s life purpose was suddenly revealed, and he knew that he would return to this place for the rest of his life. Kosciuk tries to capture the children’s beauty, resilience, and strength as well as their vulnerability, fears, and loneliness. “They don’t have a past to draw comfort from,” he says. “And there is no such thing as hoping for an exciting future. Whatever it is, it will be hard. I’m just trying to show them how important they are.”
Opening Reception with the Artist Thursday, November 16, 6pm
