Story: (Seriocomedy)

This Tony Award winning play focuses on the meaning of art as well as the meaning of friendship to both the man who bought the painting and the two friends who come to see it. Winner of numerous other theatrical awards, this play is not only a story of art but of friendship. Serge buys a modern painting for a relatively large sum of money. The painting is about five feet by four feet and is painted white with diagonal scars. Serge’s wants validation from his friends Marc and Yvan. They in turn questions their relationship with a man willing to spend such a large amount of money on something that they find hard pressed to consider “art.”
