The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County is gearing up to celebrate the annual Day for Kids, an event highlighting the critical needs of children in the community. Day for Kids celebrates the life-changing work taking place each day at Boys & Girls Clubs by encouraging adults to spend meaningful time with young people and engage in fun activities.
This year’s Day for Kids will be celebrated at the main campus, located at 7500 Davis Blvd. This free event will take place Saturday, Sept. 21 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with activities such as face painting, a dunk tank, bounce house and an obstacle course.
Day for Kids aligns with Boys & Girls Club of Collier County’s overall initiative to help young people become more actively engaged in their community, partake in healthy lifestyles and relish in academic success – ultimately establishing a solid foundation for success.
Through Day for Kids, Boys & Girls Clubs are helping elevate the issue of childhood and the importance of offering a path to at-risk youth in local communities. A safe place filled with adult mentors, programming and resources like a local Boys & Girls Club, can create healthy and active youth that acquire strong character skills to become a responsible and productive adult.
Day for Kids creates an opportunity for our community to foster stronger relationships and spend meaningful time with local youth,” says Stella Egan, Director of Operations, Boys & Girls Clubs of Collier County. “While our Day for Kids event is just one day, we hope to enable youth year-round to reach their full potential by offering support, programs and a safe and healthy environment to prosper and thrive in Collier County.
Nowadays, kids face a daunting array of problems – with serious consequences and fewer safety nets at home and in the community. Day for Kids is one small step in rebuilding our neighborhoods; providing young people with the skills and motivation they need to have great futures, while protecting them from the dangerous problems they face every day.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America has created engaging educational resources to help communities encourage and develop positive relationships with kids. Visit ww.dayforkids.org for tools, resources and tips that support interactions with young people.
