The Brody Project announces 2013 Community Education Forum - Dr. Alan Beck: “How Animals Help People Heal”

The Brody Project for Animal Assisted Therapy is proud to announce Dr. Alan Beck, a pioneer researcher in the field of the human-animal bond, will be the featured speaker for the upcoming 2013 Community Education Forum. The half-day event will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 9 a.m. until noon at Moorings Park Retirement Community in Naples.

Dr. Beck co-edited the book, New Perspectives on Our Lives with Companion Animals and co-authored the popular book, Between Pets and People: The Importance of Animal Companionship.

Beck will speak about the unique role animals play as confidantes in our culture. In his words, "At least 97 percent of dog owners talk to their dog and the other three percent lie about it."  Beck asserts that animals are essential parts of our families, noting pets are our children's children.

The forum is open to the public and admission is $35 per person. To register or find out more information about the educational forum, call or email Susanna Brennan at 239 768-7010 or susannabrennan@comcast.net.

The Brody Project will also host an intimate brunch with Dr. Beck for event donors and corporate sponsors on Sunday, February 17. Please contact Karen Lasker at 325-9328 or klasker@thebrodyproject.org to learn about sponsorship opportunities.
