The Laboratory Theater of Florida is pleased to show ‘THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO” a play set in 1939 in Atlanta, GA. Though Hitler is in power overseas, the Freitag family cares more about Ballyhoo, the biggest social event of the year. Themes of prejudice, romance, self-revelations, expectations, and obligations are masterfully woven into this award-winning comedy by the author of Driving Miss Daisy.
Winner of the 1997 Tony Award for Best Play & Winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Broadway Play
"Alfred Uhry's achingly beautiful play THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO is luminous and powerful...Uhry draws his characters with so fine a pen, on such a solid foundation, that the story takes on the sharp poignancy of life." Los Angeles Times.
