White Open Spaces

BLANK SLATE: Interior designer Joie Wilson lived by the mantra “no pattern, no color” when designing this Gulf Shore Boulevard condo in Naples. A pristine, curvilinear seating arrangement dominates the living room space, and a custom mirror crafted with sculptural white branches holds court above a 19th century English sideboard, reflecting endless views of the Gulf.

ON DISPLAY: The minimalistic hues in the living room provide a backdrop for the homeowners’ museum-quality collection of Asian art and artifacts. Vintage 1970s Lucite sconces—art in themselves—illuminate the space.

HIGH GLOSS: Formerly fitted with black-painted, traditional cabinetry, the kitchen was entirely redone in 10 weeks with white Thassos marble countertops and finished with a Baccarat crystal chandelier. “It gives a romantic, European touch to a very modern home,” says Wilson.

INSIDE OUT: Clean-lined lounges and low tables provide a comfortable haven without detracting from the home’s winning views.

FACE OFF: Custom Italian seating faces a trio of Fornasetti vases from a trip to Italy. On the windows, white glass valances conceal electronic shades. “We chose glass because it doesn’t collect dust like fabric does,” Wilson explains. “We wanted something contemporary with ease of maintenance.”

ROUND ABOUT: The geometric shapes of the guest bedroom’s circle cabinets by British designer Julian Chichester are reflected in the dot motif of the sheer drapery. Wilson’s secret to the bed frame’s soft metallic hue? A coat of auto body paint, which she touts as an inexpensive and durable means to a rich lacquer.
