Parting Shot: Sand Art - Doug Thompson


Technically, Doug Thompson broke the law to take this photo. He was heading back to shore on his Wave Runner near New Pass by Lovers Key when he noticed the patterns the extremely low tide had carved into the sand. With camera and a homemade tripod in tow, he set up this shot, which plays on both the beautiful blue light and the endless horizon. "But I had to wait until after the sun set to get it just right," he says, which means he had to drive back with no lights after dark, thereby breaking the law. "I was worried I’d get in trouble. But the photo was worth it." dougthompson.net
