Dolce & Salato brings delicious Italian specialties to Naples

Dolce & Salato is the new hotspot for top Italian and French pastries and cakes for desserts. These are the perfect treats to share with friends. It’s also a great spot for top quality imported Italian meats, cheeses, olive oils, tomato pastes and wines, at all price points. Located on Third Street, just off the west end of Fifth Avenue South next to Bice Ristorante, it’s a welcoming spot for dining in for brunch, lunch or an early dinner. All sandwiches are served on imported French baguettes. The baby spinach salad with goat cheese, red beets and walnuts in balsamic glaze dressing is refreshing. A refreshing offering is the prosciutto cotto, Brie, apples, spinach and honey mustard sandwich for $12.95, it’s enough for two.

Co-owners Agostino Nastasi and Natascia Marchesi are warm, friendly and personable.

Learn some Italian from them while you’ve visiting, watch live Italian TV and savor a real espresso.  The baked goods rival what you might have at a Paris pâtisserie. Sample bite-size mirlitons—there’s almonds and pistachio, chocolate and chocolate chips, almond and vanilla to name a few. The ricotta cheese cake is one of the best you’ll have, and the lusciously light and tender  pear and chocolate pie is baked perfection. You’ll be the hit of any dinner with these desserts.

Like wine tastings? Visit at 5 p.m. on Oct. 22 and sample different wines from Italy’s Piedmont region. Bonus: You’ll  be serenaded by Opera Naples’ Italian tenor Livio Ferrari’s rich voice accompanied by a strolling violinist.
