Inside the Gulfshore's Dining Scene
North Naples Green Market is on the move

North Naples Green Market is on the move

North Naples Green Market has moved from the Shoppes at Vanderbilt to Our Saviour Lutheran Church’s grounds just South of Sam’s Club, offering outdoor produce and also delicious shopping in air-conditioned comfort. This is the spot to get fresh produce direct form the farmers. Inside, make a beeline to Jacquie’s Jamming preserves and jams for mango chutney or heat it up with jalapeno pepper jelly. I like the rich pies from Funny Cake Bakery, The best mac ’n’ cheeses are offered by Naples own Madame Mac. Sample the original, lump crab or the veggie mac. Greekelicious features baklava, dolmades, souvlaki and more. Captain’s Choice Seafood is truly locally caught fish; take home some snowy grouper, swordfish or red snapper. Old...

Eat for less and eat meat

Eat for less and eat meat

It’s time again for Naples Originals quarterly gift certificate sale when some of the best restaurants in town—including Cloyde's Steak & Lobster House, Handsome Harry's, 360 Market, Bha! Bha! Persian Bistro, I M Tapas, and The Bay House—offer up 30 percent discounts. Each of the more than 30 restaurants offers up certificates at varying levels, usually either $50 (which cost $35) or $25 (17.50). This time the group is introducing $15 gift certificates (for $10) to a few places with lower priced menu options. Be sure to get online early (perhaps even before that first cup of coffee) and log on to as the best restaurants have limited quantities for sale and go quick. The certificates will then be emailed to you to print and...

Authentic Indian Delights

Owner Kaushik Sanghvi has succcessfully maintained A-Z Beverage at the same spot on  Bayshore Drive for 25 years. But last year he set aside a good portion of the store to open an Indian specialty shop. Thus Spice of India was added to the marquee. Business has only increased since then. He stocks hard to get fresh Indian produce, such as dosa kai (small melons) snake gourd and various gingers, plus lentils and local cilantro, mangoes, avocados, tomatoes and other produce. My favorite part of the store is the huge freezers filled with heat ’n’ eat authentic Indian frozen foods. How good are they? Well, Indian food lovers drive from Estero and Fort Myers to fill up their freezers. Try chicken curry, lamb kabobs, parathas, naan pizzas and delicious ice creams. 3863 Bayshore...

Barbatella Brings Delectable Italian Delights

Barbatella Spirited Italian Trattoria recently opened at the corner of  Naples’ Third Street  South and 13th  Avenue South, offering a bounty of foods in a trio of welcome settings. Enjoy lunch or dinner in the sunlit open courtyard—perfect for people watching; have a pizza, salad, grilled steak or fish  in the cozy brick-lined  trattoria, or get comfy in the spacious new bar that also overlooks Third Street. Where else can you choose from three wonderful and quite different dining settings?  The food is light, healthy and full of flavor— like its nearby big sister, Chef Fabrizio and Ingrid Aielli and Lily Montes’ highly regarded Sea Salt. I enjoyed orecchiette with sausage, roasted Berkshire pork, half Long Island duck, lamb chops, fried calamari and several...
