Into the Blue

LIFE’S A BREEZE

LIFE’S A BREEZE

“It’s all about the view,” says interior designer Susan Muller of Susan Muller Interior Design—and, of course, a comfortable place to relax and watch the sunset. The outdoor kitchen and fireplace were designed to complement each other, and a wood tongue-and-groove ceiling adds warmth to a cool blue and gray color palette.

TALL ORDER

The bar area flows into an airy living room and casual dining area. Here, custom built-in shelving flanks a Carrara marble fireplace, which draws a bit of “Florida feel” from the avian artwork perched above.

WILD SIDE

Wild Side

Large windows encompass nearly the entire Gulf side of the home, taking best advantage of stellar views and a brief stroll down the boardwalk to the beach.

HIDE AWAY

Hide Away

The owner wanted to create a retreat with a view of the water, Muller says, so part of the master bedroom became a sitting area, which sections off with sheer draperies. Rather than using prints, Muller chose a muted palette with a focus on texture.

DE-LIGHT-FUL

DE-LIGHT-FUL

A large maple island dominates the center of the kitchen, which abounds with carefully selected detail. Over the pantry door, custom stained glass adds decorative detail and allows light to pass through. Antique glass pendants hang over the island, and a custom-designed hood detail is crafted of stone and glass.

MADE IN THE SHADE

Sweeping archways frame the home’s richest views: the pool and Gulf beyond.
