April Calendar Highlights



April 5 There’s no place like New York City, but you can see its metropolitan Opera at the Bell Tower Shops in Fort Myers during The Met Opera Live in HD. The live simulcasts hit the big screen April 5 with Puccini’s La Boheme and April 26 with Donzetti’s La Fille du Regiment. Tickets range from $15 to $22. (800) 638-6737.

April 4 Be one of the first to view Illuminations, an exhibit of layered, multimedia artworks by a collection of national artists. Part of the third annual Florida Arts Festival, it’s on display April 4–28 at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in Fort Myers. 337-1933.

April 26 Set off on a Sunset and Starlight Paddle guided kayak trip through Rookery Bay with Florida master naturalist Cyril Marks, April 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. Call to register, 417-6310.

April 6 He’s performed with every major orchestra throughout the world. Now the award-winning classical violinist Itzhak Perlman makes an appearance at the Phil, April 6 at 8 p.m. 597-1900.

April 20 From The Carol Burnett Show and Mama’s Family, comedian Vicki Lawrence (along with her endearing character “Mama”) brings a one-woman mix of stand-up comedy, storytelling and music to the Phil, April 20 at 8 p.m. 597-1900.
