Fashion Statement

Katherine Pallas

Seen at: Opera Naples’ Opera Ball at Naples Grande Beach Resort

What are you wearing? This is an Emanuel Ungaro beaded jersey gown (from Marissa Collections). The shoes are Valentino, and my jewelry is from Saks Fifth Avenue. They’re Graf earrings, and my bracelet and ring are by Nini, the jeweler for the king and queen of Thailand. My mask is also from Marissa Collections.

What about your gloves? They’re at least 50 years old. I got them when I used to go to the opera in Chattanooga, Tenn. Somehow they got stuck in a drawer, and now every time I go to any formal event, I love to put them on. I think they make the outfit, because very few other people wear gloves. They’re my signature.

What is your fashion philosophy? I think we should always try to look as beautiful as we can when we go out.

Which designers do you most admire? Oscar de la Renta and most Italian designers—especially Valentino.

What are you most comfortable wearing? A short skirt, a pretty top and a little heel.

What is your favorite accessory? Earrings, because they brighten and lend beauty to the face.

What would you never wear? I would never wear a big, baggy dress. I used to wear a lot of them before I knew how to dress. They’re just not flattering.

Where do you like to shop? I shop at Marissa’s and Saks primarily, but I don’t mind shopping anyplace I can find something that appeals to me. Why limit yourself?
