Who are you here with? My husband, Bob, and some friends.
What are you wearing? A tailor-made, Ralph Lauren-inspired dress. The fabric is silk panne velvet. I’m also wearing Dolce & Gabbana shoes, a Corum watch, a Graf ring and Tiffany earrings.
What about your necklace? Oh, this is special—it was custom-made by Cartier as a gift from my husband for my 50th birthday.
Why did you choose this? I loved the idea of the supper-club atmosphere with the red carpet. I thought of this dress immediately.
What’s your fashion philosophy? I’m a very casual person, but I love the timeless classics.
Who has influenced your style? In the last 20 years, Marissa Hartington. She has the whole essence of the European look. Also, Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy.
What are you most comfortable in? During the day, my favorite look is Bermuda shorts with a little heel, great bag and a T-shirt or a blouse. I wouldn’t wear it in New York, but for here, it’s perfect.
What will you teach your granddaughter about fashion? Invest in one great piece a year, and have fun with the trendy stuff throughout the rest of the year.
What would you never wear? A mini skirt. I don't care how great your body looks, it's not appropriate if you’re over 50.
What new trends do you like? I love the short dress or long top with leggings and heels. It reminds me of Twiggy in the ’60s.
How important is fashion in the Naples area? Absolutely 100 percent, it’s the most important thing. I think it has to do with Saks Fifth Avenue, Waterside Shops and Marissa Collections bringing in designers who are equal to what you’d find in New York. The sophistication of this town has really evolved.
