Shopportunities: Perking Things Up with Yellow

BY May 31, 2017

This season, yellow is a big color story. And although it’s undeniably one of the most challenging hues to pull off, it’s also the perfect color for perking up an outfit and lifting one’s mood. Our eyes are particularly sensitive to the wavelengths of light that we perceive as yellow, so only a small amount of this cheery color is needed to make a major impact. The easiest way to add a ray of sunshine to your summer wardrobe is with the addition of a yellow accessory, but if you’re feeling bold, try a yellow skirt or pants paired with a neutral top (white, gray, taupe)—because the color is farther away from the face, it won’t clash with your skin tone. Better yet, there’s every tone of yellow, from effervescent lemon sherbet to mellow mustard, the latter of which will transition your wardrobe nicely into autumn. Who said yellow isn’t versatile?
