What to Wear: Children’s Advocacy Center of Collier County Beach Ball

Each year the Beach Ball themes the event to a different shoreline of the world, and this year it’s Portugal’s. The ball takes place Saturday, March 5, at the Naples Grande Beach Resort to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collier County, and the stated dress code is “beach chic.” As that can mean different things to different people, let’s start with what it’s not: sloppy T-shirts, cut-offs and swimwear. So, here are some options to put the “chic” back in: cocktail dresses; dressy shell tops; palazzo pants; a breezy silk caftan; some elegant flats or sandals. The national flower of Portugal is lavender, so you could score some points by incorporating it (the flower or the color) into your outfit. For parts of the evening outside, take a lightweight stole or long scarf to ward off the evening chill, or it can double as a head wrap to control breeze-blown hair on a blustery night.
