Visitors Guide: Arts and Entertainment

Whether your taste runs to glittery black-tie evenings or Sunday concerts in the park, there’s always someplace to go here on the Gulfshore. There are coffee shops, bistros and clubs with live entertainment from Jimmy Buffett to mainstream jazz, Broadway and off-Broadway shows, and performances by renowned musicians, dancers and stage stars.

We have three professional Equity theaters, a world-class opera company and two top-ranked symphony orchestras. Naples is the Florida West Coast home of the Miami City Ballet Co., and Germain Arena, which can pack in 7,000 patrons, stages major events. Upcoming this year at Germain Arena include the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, the world-famous Lipizzaner stallions and the Disney Live! Rockin’ Road Show.

On this season’s calendar at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall (Fort Myers) are several Broadway shows including Jersey Boys and Beauty and the Beast, musical concerts ranging from Alice Cooper to the Beach Boys, and spectacular productions like Cirque Dreams Illumination.

The Philharmonic Center for the Arts (Naples) and the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra will present another diverse season, ranging from the smash Broadway hit, In The Heights, to Verdi’s La Traviata and an evening with Lauren Bacall.
