What to Wear: Thanksgiving Dinner

BY November 8, 2017

One size really doesn’t fit all when it comes to dressing for Thanksgiving dinner. Whether your Thanksgiving involves dining out or enjoying a simple, easy affair at home, some strategy is required to ensure a feast-friendly outfit without compromising style. After all, it’s an important holiday and one that deserves a sense of occasion—however casual it may be. For a restaurant meal, a wrap dress is a chic option, with the added benefit of easy adjustability by loosening the waistline ties. For an informal get-together, pants or jeans—with a decent amount of stretch—are ideal paired with an oversize sweater or tunic top. If ordinarily you balk at the thought of elasticized waistbands, this is one occasion you’ll be thankful for them, particularly when you don’t feel as stuffed as the turkey halfway through the meal. And for after-dinner lounging, a silky pajama-style top and pants set is dressy enough for looking stylish, yet comfortable enough for curling up on the sofa when the food coma kicks in.
