A Shore Thing

Start with a Pale Palette

Pale Palette

There isn’t a single shell or blatant sea reference; however, Hickory Chair’s grouping exudes the new, sophisticated coastal theme with a light palette of whites and grays accented by just a touch of boldness from the pillow fabrics and dark wood tones. Individual items available through the Henredon store at Miromar Design Center, Estero.

Caribbean Coastal

Caribbean Coastal

The other end of the coastal spectrum features a livelier look. Irene Read and Bobbie Lemmons of Cape Coral’s Island Bi-Design worked with the team at Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to create an island-everyday ambience for a lucky Florida family. Blues echo the shade of the Caribbean Sea; pillows and accessories add pops of juicy citrus hues; and light wood tones are provided by teak furniture and flooring that emulates driftwood with its sun-faded look.

Shell Games

Libra coffee table

The Libra coffee table introduces shells in disguise: Its soft white top is made of coquina, a natural shell and stone mix quarried from Mexican waters. The table has an ebony-toned structured metal base and is priced at $3,995. Available at Interiors by Design West/Kreiss at Mercato, Naples.

Sea Dreams

Hooker’s Harbour Pointe collection

Transform your boudoir into a chic cottage getaway with a vintage vibe. Hooker’s Harbour Pointe collection includes this luscious bed, fashioned from knotty white oak veneers and woven water hyacinth. A nightstand with legs and the same coveside finish keeps the feeling airy and cozy. Nightstand, $655, and king-size bed, $2,150, are available through Decorating Den of Southwest Florida.

Weathered Driftwood

Stanley Furniture’s Coastal Living collection

Stanley Furniture’s recently released Coastal Living collection features louvered shutter details and seaworthy finishes like "sea glass," cottagey pastels and weathered driftwood, the latter a rustic counterpoint to the contemporary edge of the Del Mar sideboard’s four curved, aged-iron supports. Available for $1,849 at Baer’s Furniture, Naples and Fort Myers.

In the Navy

Fendi Casa’s Capri chaise

There’s nothing more nautical than the traditional pairing of white and navy stripes. The deep blue stripes of Fendi Casa’s Capri chaise, shown with pouf and pillows, introduces the singular dark undertone today’s coastal look requires. Prices upon request at Fendi Casa, Miromar Design Center.

Under the Sea

C.R. Lane’s classic Catherine armchair upholstered in Biscayne

Fabrics that reference the sea and its creatures are fine in small doses as with C.R. Lane’s classic Catherine armchair upholstered in Biscayne turquoise with its of-the-moment oversized pattern and unexpected color combo that shuns typical coral for a palette of pollen, eucalyptus, pewter and spa. The chair, as shown, is priced at $1,556 and available through Alison Craig Home Furnishings, Naples.

Down by the Sea

Tiles available through Walker Zanger at Miromar Design Center

The pale colors in Walker Zanger’s Arabesque tile echo sand, surf and puffy cloud-filled skies. Use it to introduce the shades of the seaside as a backsplash or accent wall in the shower or kitchen. The tile, priced from $23 per square foot, is available through Walker Zanger at Miromar Design Center.
